Youth Publication project

Parent and Teacher research awareness project- publications

Early adolescence is a key focus, when 10 to 15 year olds are in the most complicated, challenging and exciting time of their lives, second only to infancy.  They’re developing identities as young people in their own right, and as future citizens. Later, as 16 to 19 year olds (middle to late adolescence), the challenge is staying motivated, staying eager to learn and still wanting to be lifelong learners.

This magazine addressed the wide range of issues and opportunities that all young people face during their youth:
  • Unprecedented pressures due to environmental issues, the explosion in technology, internet relationships, computer game obsession and family breakdown;
  • Unprecedented rates of youth anxiety, depression, drug and alcohol use, bullying and violence; and,
  • Unprecedented opportunities to contribute to social change, and to develop as confident, connected and actively involved lifelong learners.

In this Issue 5, at least two authors argue the case that schooling is both culpable for the youth “fall out” and yet also may be responsible for making an enormous difference, for the better.
